A New Adaptive Linear Combined Cfar Detec- Tor in Presence of Interfering Targets

چکیده
In this paper, a new radar constant false alarm rate detector to perform adaptive threshold target detection in presence of interfering targets is proposed. The proposed CFAR detector, referred to as Adaptive Linear Combined CFAR, ALC-CFAR, employs an adaptive composite approach based on the well-known cell averaging CFAR, CA-CFAR, and the ordered statistics, OS-CFAR, detectors. Data in the reference window is used to compute an adaptive weighting factor employed in the fusion scheme. Based on this factor, the ALCCFAR tailors the background estimation algorithm. The conducted Monte Carlo simulation results demonstrate that the proposed detector provides low loss CFAR performance in an homogeneous environment and also performs robustly in presence of interfering targets. The performances of the ALC-CFAR detector have been evaluated and compared with that of the CA-CFAR and the OS-CFAR detectors. The obtained results are presented and discussed in this paper.

Detection Loss Due to Interfering Targets in Ordered Statistics CFAR

CFAR usually suffers some detection loss due to the adaptive threshold concept. Furthermore, the presence of strong returns among the cells used to determine the background noise or clutter (...
متن کاملA New Class of Adaptive CFAR Methods for Nonhomogeneous Environments
The paper introduces a new class of adaptive CFAR methods to cope with the problem of outliers due to the presence of clutter edges and interfering targets. A fundamental distinction between the proposed approach and existing adaptive CFAR approaches is that in order to maintain robust performance the former uses information on positions at which estimated outlier-free cells appear in the full ...

Therefore, using an adaptive threshold with the CFAR (constant FAR) property is unavoidable in most radar and automatic det...
متن کاملAdaptive CFAR Detection for Clutter-Edge Heterogeneity Using Bayesian Inference
Reliable radar constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection is critical in dynamic clutter and jamming scenarios [2]. The existence of heterogeneities in practical operational environments renders the conventional cell averaging CFAR (CA-CFAR) ineffective. Heterogeneities arise due to the presence of multiple targets and clutter edges [3]. Alternative schemes have been developed to address this i...
متن کاملPerformance of Distributed CFAR Processors in Pearson Distributed Clutter
This paper deals with the distributed constant false alarm rate (CFAR) radar detection of targets embedded in heavy-tailed Pearson distributed clutter. In particular, we extend the results obtained for the cell averaging (CA), order statistics (OS), and censored mean level CMLD CFAR processors operating in positive alpha-stable (P&S) random variables to more general situations, specifically to ...
